Kindle Black Friday deals 2026: buy now or wait for the new models?
Short answer: unless you want the Kindle Scribe (already £150 off at £279.99), wait. Amazon releases a new Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition on 11 November 2026, and last year's Black Friday took the basic Kindle down to £69.99 and the Paperwhite to £134.99. Older models usually get their deepest cuts once a new generation lands.

Amazon Kindle Scribe (64GB)
A Kindle you can write on, for notes and marking up documents. £150 off is a strong price.
Kindle Paperwhite (2026, 16GB), pre-order
Out 11 November. Full price at launch, so only pre-order if you want the newest model on day one.
Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (2026, 32GB), pre-order
The colour-screen Kindle, also out 11 November. Best for comics, magazines and cookbooks.
Kindle prices to aim for this Black Friday
These are the lowest UK prices we've seen recently. If a Kindle hits these figures, it's a genuinely good deal.
- Kindle (2024, 16GB, with ads): £69.99 at Black Friday 2025; £84.99 during Amazon's October 2026 Prime Big Deal Days
- Kindle Paperwhite (2024, 16GB, with ads): £134.99 at Black Friday 2025; £160 in October 2026
- Kindle Colorsoft (2024, 16GB): £144.99 in October 2026 (usually £259.99)
- Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024, 32GB): £190 in October 2026 (usually £229.99)
Which Kindle should you buy?
Kindle (basic): small, light and cheap. Ideal if you mainly read novels and want the lowest price.
Kindle Paperwhite: the one most people should buy. A bigger, sharper screen, waterproofing and warm lighting for reading at night.
Kindle Colorsoft: a colour screen, which only really matters for comics, graphic novels, cookbooks and magazines. For plain novels, a Paperwhite is better value.
Kindle Scribe: a large screen you can write on with the included pen. Worth it for students and anyone who marks up PDFs. Overkill for just reading.
"With ads" or without? The ads only appear on the lock screen and the home screen, never inside books. Paying extra to remove them is optional.
Should you wait for the 2026 models?
The new Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Edition arrive on 11 November, a fortnight before Black Friday (27 November). New models rarely get big discounts in their first weeks. The better bargain is usually the previous generation, which tends to be cut harder as stock clears.
Will Kindles be cheaper on Black Friday 2026?
Very likely. Amazon discounts its own devices every Black Friday, and last year the basic Kindle fell to £69.99 and the Paperwhite to £134.99.
Is the 2024 Paperwhite still worth buying?
Yes, at the right price. Aim for under £140. It's still an excellent e-reader, and the new model's improvements are small for most readers.
Where is cheapest for Kindles?
Amazon nearly always has the lowest price on its own devices. Argos, Currys and John Lewis sometimes match it.
